Privacy Policy

Handrail is made by Midpoint Software Group ("we"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you control. It's written to be read, not skimmed.

What we collect

• Account — your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider). Optionally a display name.
• Shifts and reminders — the shifts, prep steps, tasks, and essentials you enter so the app can tell you when to leave.
• Captures — photos, screenshots, pasted text, and voice-note transcripts you choose to capture, plus what the app read from them (title, dates, amounts, sender).
• Usage of AI features — when a capture is read or a question is asked, we record that it happened and how much text was processed, so we can meter free reads and Pro. We do not store your prompts beyond the capture itself.
• Subscription status — whether Handrail Pro is active, from our subscription provider. We never see your payment details; Apple handles payment.

How captures are read

When you tap Read, the image or text of that one capture is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to be turned into a short summary and a suggested action. It is sent only when you ask, only for that item, and Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models. The proposal comes back to you, and nothing is filed, scheduled, or reminded until you tap Yes.

Voice notes are transcribed on your phone by iOS. The audio never leaves your device; only the text you approve is sent for reading.

Where data lives

Your data is stored in a Supabase project in the United States, in a database and private storage bucket that only your account can read. We use row-level security so one user can never see another user's records. Backups are kept by the provider for disaster recovery.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or show ads.
• We don't read your captures ourselves. The only time a human could see them is if you email us one for support.
• We don't track you across other apps or sites.

Notifications

Handrail sends local notifications only for leave-by alarms and reminders you set. No marketing, no nudges. You can turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.

Your controls

• Delete a capture or document — from the app, any time.
• Delete your account — Settings → Delete my account. This removes your account, every record, and every file, immediately and permanently. Details at myhandrail.me/delete-account.
• Export — email us and we'll send you what we hold about you.

Children

Handrail is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app and update the date at the top.
